The 2023 Undergraduate Scholarship Program is now accepting applications from interested Grade 12 students who want to pursue professions in science and technology, according to a Monday announcement by the Department of Science and Technology-Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI).

The DOST-1’s regional director for the Ilocos Region, Armando Ganal, said that the application process has started and will last until December 2. The in-person, paper-and-pencil qualifying exam will be held on March 11 and 12, 2023, at several testing locations.

All students enrolled in the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) track program and non-STEM students who placed in the top five percent of their graduating class are eligible to apply, according to Ganal.

Students who are interested may immediately apply and submit the necessary paperwork by visiting https://www.science-scholarships.ph.

By offering grants for scholarships like undergraduate S&T scholarships and merit scholarships, among others, the DOST-SEI is required to produce an adequate supply of science, technology, and human resources in support of national government programs and industries, academic institutions, and the private sector.

To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must pass the 2023 S&T Undergraduate Scholarships Examination and enroll in a four- or five-year Bachelor of Science (BS) degree program in one of the priority fields of study at a state university or college or any other public or private higher education facility that has earned Level III accreditation from the Federation of Accrediting Agencies of the Philippines or is recognized by the Commission on Higher Education as a Center of Excellence or Center of Development.

All applicants must be Filipinos by birth, highly moral character, and in good physical and mental condition.
