Bus and RoRo service was canceled on Friday owing to Paeng
Due to the effects of Tropical Storm Paeng, a number of public utility bus (PUB) and roll-on/roll-off (RoRo) journeys to the provinces of Occidental Mindoro, Oriental Mindoro, Iloilo, Catanduanes, Leyte, and Davao City were canceled on Friday.
This includes visits to Roxas, Oriental Mindoro; Iloilo City; Maasin City, Southern Leyte; Ormoc City, Leyte; Davao City; Bagamanoc, Catanduanes; and San Jose, Occidental Mindoro, according to a Facebook post from the Paranaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX).
The cancellations were a result of tropical cyclone wind signal no. 1 being raised over Metro Manila, the southern regions of the provinces of Aurora, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, the remainder of Quezon, Occidental Mindoro, Oriental Mindoro, Romblon, and the Calamian Islands, according to a separate advisory from the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB).
It is strongly urged that all RoRo PUBs leaving from the Port of Batangas halt their journeys. According to the LTFRB, bus drivers are ordered to cater to the requirements of their passengers, particularly those who are already trapped in ports.
Additionally, it recommended travelers postpone their trip if the weather does not get better.
According to the 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. marine safety alert of the Philippines Coast Guard, there are currently 4,551 passengers stuck throughout multiple passengers and RoRo ports in Bicol, Southern Tagalog, and Eastern Visayas as a result of Paeng (PCG).
In a Facebook post, the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) stated that these stranded passengers receive food, water, and other necessities to safeguard their welfare amid the ongoing disaster.
