On Wednesday, the Bureau of Customs (BOC) said that it had received P75.5 billion in total income in October.

This was 35 percent greater, or P19.6 billion, than the same time last year, and was 18.6% higher, or P11.8 billion, than the agency’s target of P63.7 billion for the month.

Records for the first half of the year also revealed that the agency had collected a total of P714.3 billion, which was P111.5 billion, or 18.6 percent, more than the predicted collection of P602.8 billion.

Revenues increased by 37 percent, or P188.9 billion, over the same period the previous year when it collected P525.4 billion.

The bureau credited the agency’s aggressive actions against revenue leakages, corruption, and smuggling as well as resolving bottlenecks in the customs procedure for the agency’s successful performance.

Commissioner Yogi Filemon Ruiz stated that in order to maintain great performance and enhance services to stakeholders, the bureau is giving priority to its modernization initiative and process improvements.
