Legazpi will enable rural villages to process business permits

The Business Permits and Licensing Office (BPLO) of the local government will establish registration centers in this city’s southern and northern villages next year, making the procedure of obtaining business permits much simpler.

The head of the BPLO, Asuncion Calleja, stated in an interview on Thursday that her office would establish two clusters in the southern Legazpi villages of Banquerohan and Homapon, as well as in the northern Legazpi hamlet of Barangay Rawis, where business owners may renew their permits in January.

“All business enterprises in the barangays outside of the city’s business district would no longer visit the BPLO’s main office inside the grounds of City Hall. The only thing they have to do is continue to these closely-spaced barangays to process their business permits, according to Calleja.

In order to make government services more accessible to the populace, she promised to adopt a Saturday timetable for completing all the paperwork required for company renewals in these barangays.

According to Calleja, “under this plan, inhabitants in these remote places would not incur significant transportation costs and would take less time to obtain the necessary permits.”

The staff members assigned to the cluster barangays will electronically transmit all the paperwork required for obtaining business permits to the BPLO headquarters office for final processing.

All documentation for business renewal, according to Calleja, will also go via the Electronic Business One-Stop Shop (E-BOSS) program and the relevant regulatory offices, such as the City Treasurer’s Office, the Zoning Office, and the City Environment and Natural Resources Office, as necessary.
