PH praised as the top dive and beach destination in the world
At the recent 29th World Travel Awards Grand Final Gala Ceremony held in Muscat, Oman, the Philippines was named the World’s Leading Beach Destination and the World’s Leading Dive Destination for 2022.
“These triumphs for the Philippines on a worldwide scale demonstrate the unmatched beauty of our nation and the unmistakable friendliness of the Filipino people. As the Philippines completely opens its arms to welcome visitors to our shores, we sincerely thank the World Travel Awards and everyone from around the globe for their support “said Christina Garcia Frasco, secretary of tourism.
“One of the goals of the Department of Tourism, as envisioned by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., is to help less well-known sites throughout our regions while also promoting and developing popular destinations. As the Marcos administration ushers in the resurrection of the tourist industry as a significant pillar of economic growth and a source of livelihood for millions of Filipinos, these Awards serve as a source of encouragement for us in the Department of Tourism to work even harder. We’ll keep working to enhance visitors’ overall experiences in the Philippines and promote the greatest aspects of the Filipino brand abroad as we prepare for the expected increase in tourists “the head of tourism added.
As it ruled over the world’s top diving locations, including the Great Barrier Reef in Australia, the Cayman Islands, Maldives, Fiji, Mexico, Azores Islands, French Polynesia, Galapagos Islands, St. Kitts, and Belize, the Philippine dive portfolio continued its four-year winning streak for the title of “World’s Leading Dive Destination.”
The Maldives, The Algarve in Portugal, Jamaica, the Galapagos Islands in Equador, and the Turks and Caicos Islands were prior award winners, but the Philippines outperformed them all as the World’s Leading Beach Destination.
Amanpulo, the World’s Leading Dive Resort in 2022; City of Dreams Manila, the World’s Leading Casino Resort in 2022; and Ascott Bonifacio Global City Manila, the World’s Leading Serviced Apartments 2022—three partner tourist businesses—also shared the honor of.
This year, Siargao was nominated as the top island destination in the world, and Intramuros was nominated as the top tourist attraction in the world, along with the DOT.
The best in the tourism and hospitality sectors from Asia, the Caribbean, Central America, Europe, the Indian Ocean, the Middle East, North America, Oceania, and South America were recognized at the 29th World Travel Awards.
