Infra damage from Paeng is approaching P12-B in Agri: NDRRMC
According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), Severe Tropical Storm Paeng has caused infrastructural and agricultural damage of close to PHP12 billion.
Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol, Western Visayas, Central Visayas, Eastern Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, Davao Region, Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), and the Cordillera Administrative Region all reported agriculture damage totaling PHP6.30 billion (CAR).
The estimated number of affected farmers and fishermen is 146,927.
In the meantime, infrastructure losses in the Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol, Western Visayas, Central Visayas, Northern Mindanao, Davao Region, Soccsksargen, BARMM, and CAR were projected at PHP5.6 billion.
There are currently 64,249 damaged homes, of which 57,888 are categorized as “mostly damaged” and 6,361 as “completely damaged.”
The overall number of reported deaths is 162, of which 132 are confirmed, while the number of injured people is 270, of whom 232 are verified.
Paeng is believed to be responsible for 29 missing people, 19 of whom have already been proven.
