Comelec and partners sign an agreement to convene a national election meeting.

In order to organize the National Elections Summit in January of next year, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with its partners and stakeholders on Wednesday.

The MOA signing took place at the Justo Albert Auditorium, Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila in Intramuros, Manila, under the direction of Comelec Chairperson George Garcia.

Senior Comelec officials as well as representatives from academia, civil society organizations, and business partners were present at the occasion.

The summit intends to serve as a forum for national conversation and engagement, including the input and involvement of electoral stakeholders.

Additionally, it will examine, develop, or improve policies, plans, and initiatives related to the conduct, enforcement, and adjudication of elections.

According to Garcia, the Comelec agreed to postpone the date of its annual planning meeting in order to accommodate the summit.

We postponed this planning meeting. In his remarks at the MOA signing, he stated, “We will just hold the planning session by February to pave the way for the conduct of the election summit.

He declared that the summit’s outcomes would be discussed internally in February.
