Officials: PH is among the top tourist spots in Israel.

Due to the parallels in culture between Israel and the Philippines, it has recently become one of the most popular tourist destinations for Israelis.

You’ll see that the number of Israeli tourists—from children to families—is rapidly increasing. Therefore, you will undoubtedly see a lot of young people traveling to the Philippines, including Israelis in their 20s and 30s on honeymoons, said H.E. Ilan Fluss, the Israeli ambassador to the Philippines, in an interview with the Philippine News Agency (PNA) on Thursday, which was held in conjunction with the Manila Roadshow of the Israeli Ministry of Tourism.

According to Fluss, businesspeople and entrepreneurs are traveling between Israel and the Philippines due to opportunities in innovation and technology.

He claimed that Israelis and Filipinos have a few traits, such as family values and a want to interact with others, which are luring Israelis to the Philippines and may persuade Filipinos to travel to Israel.

Israelis and Filipinos are both quite amiable. As the Israeli ambassador, I witness this daily, and it is wonderful,” Fluss remarked.

The Israeli ambassador added that there are business travelers between Israel and the Philippines due to opportunities in the innovation and technology sector.

The two countries’ positive relations have a long history that dates back to the 1930s.

As you are aware, during the Second World War, the Nazis perpetrated the Holocaust, killing 6 million Jews. As the Nazi regime grew, Jews were attempting to flee, according to Fluss.

Jews were permitted to enter the Philippines as refugees and are now safe residents. That’s really important because the majority of nations in the world shut their borders to Jewish refugees, he pointed out.

In addition, the Philippines backed a United Nations resolution supporting the creation of the Jewish state of Israel in 1947.

The Israeli government has reciprocated the nation’s humanitarian gesture toward the Jewish people and support for the State of Israel by providing unceasing help during emergencies, particularly those brought on by natural disasters.

“With the help of hurricane Odette in 2013, we set up search and rescue teams and the first field hospital outside of Cebu Island. Finally, we recently provided help in Cebu, Bohol, Siargao, and the Naga. Therefore, this is a really tight collaboration that conveys a feeling of camaraderie, according to Fluss.

Visa exemption

Israeli authorities are also enticing Filipinos to travel there more frequently in the interim.

All Filipinos can visit Israel without a visa, which is one of the governments of Israel’s gifts to the Philippines.

“The most significant factor is that Filipinos do not require visas, making it incredibly simple to simply purchase a ticket and travel to our nation. Our relationship dates back more than a century, and according to Sammy Yahia, director of the Israel Ministry of Tourism in India and the Philippines, I believe the Philippines is the only Asian nation that does not require a visa to visit us.

Due to “technical problems,” there aren’t any direct flights operating between the Philippines and Israel right now.

“We will obtain authorization by the end of the year, and they (airlines) will be able to fly. Additionally, we will undoubtedly have direct flights. It will happen in due course, Yahia stated.

Yahia responded that any day of the year would be the best time to fly to Israel when questioned about the ideal time for Filipino tourists to travel there.

“Because our climate is different. Israel is a small country that stretches 500 kilometers from south to north, and there is a different climate in each of those regions, he noted.

“If you want to go skiing in the winter, head up north; if you want to enjoy the beaches in the summer, come here. However, as a last resort, you can still have fun in the south during the winter, he noted.

Yahia said that Israel does not follow any COVID-19-related health precautions or restrictions since their government “is not looking at the past,” particularly the time of the pandemic.

He claimed that neither face masks nor full Covid-19 vaccinations are required for visitors from other countries.
