Filipino nationals who wish to pursue higher education abroad are encouraged by the European Union (EU) to do so by turning to Europe and applying for scholarships provided by the Erasmus+ program.

EU Ambassador to the Philippines Luc Véron stated that studying in Europe would give Filipino youth a different perspective useful for both personal and professional development at the opening of the two-day hybrid European Higher Education Fair (EHEF) 2022 on Friday at Shangri-La Plaza Manila in Mandaluyong City.

EHEF provides interested students with a forum for interaction with representatives from more than 90 of Europe’s best universities and educational institutions.

In his statement, Véron stated, “As the European Union commemorates the 2022 International Year of the Youth, we are focused on allowing the youth to be ready for innovation and to contribute to the construction of a better future—greener, more inclusive, and digital.

According to Ana Isabel Sanchez Ruiz, deputy head of the EU Delegation, EHEF 2022 will include talks on the Erasmus+ scholarship and how Filipinos can apply.

Erasmus+ provides the opportunity to combine a traineeship with international studies. Students pursuing short-cycle Bachelor’s, Master’s, or doctoral degrees have opportunities.

According to her statement to the Philippine News Agency, “We have a very well-established scholarship program where students can have complete reimbursement of their fees to study in up to three different colleges within EU member states and abroad.”

Additionally, according to Ruiz, certain EU member states give their own international scholarships.

There are occasionally university programs as well, so EHEF would have all of this information, she said.

Belgium, Czechia, Denmark, Germany, Ireland, Spain, France, Italy, Hungary, the Netherlands, Poland, Austria, Finland, and Sweden are among the participating EU member states.
