Meetings with APEC officials were quite positive: PBBM

Satisfied, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. concluded his participation in the 29th Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit in Bangkok, Thailand, and his “successful” and “substantive” conversations with his colleagues.

He met with the Filipino community at the Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park Hotel to cap off his day.

“Most of the regional leaders I have already had the pleasure of meeting. We’ve also had meaningful conversations, “In a media interview, Marcos stated.

When it comes to figuring out the issues, coming up with solutions, and achieving regional economic growth and prosperity, Marcos claimed that APEC presidents are “in parallel with one another.”

According to Marcos, the summit’s common topics included combating climate change, maintaining food security, and developing sustainable energy.

The countries appear to have a great deal of commonality in terms of defining what are the difficulties that we face and should be prioritized, he said. “It’s extremely heartening to see that our partners, member countries in terms of ASEAN, and the member economies in terms of APEC,” he said.

Marcos described his participation in APEC as a “success” during a meeting with the Filipino community, highlighting his bilateral meetings with a number of foreign leaders as among his achievements.

Marcos met with Xi Jinping of China, Mohammed bin Salman, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia, Jacinda Ardern of New Zealand, Emmanuel Macron of France, and Anthony Albanese of Australia.

The summit sessions opened the ground for the five leaders’ promises to further collaboration with the Philippines in crucial fields like agriculture, trade, infrastructure, energy, and military.

Additionally, agreements were reached with other leaders to strengthen connections with the Philippines in order to combat climate change, stop the coronavirus pandemic in 2019, and safeguard the welfare of Filipinos who work abroad.

The proposals to increase cooperation with China, Saudi Arabia, New Zealand, France, and Australia, according to Marcos, will be followed up on.

“Caming marami rin naging accord. Sana eh, ma-follow up natin ito pag-uwi at sana, bago sa lalong madaling panahon, bago naman matapos ang susunod na taon ay may makita na tayong resulta doon sa ating mga ginawa. We intend to follow up when we get home. And maybe before the year is up, we will see the outcomes of the bilateral meetings “added he.
