BI and CICC sign agreement to establish cybercrime hubs in airports
With the development of cybercrime centers in significant airports, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) and the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC) have reinforced their campaign against online fraud.
The memorandum of arrangement (MOA), which enables the establishment of cybercrime centers in these regions, was signed on November 15 at the BI headquarters in Manila by CICC Executive Director Alexander Ramos and Immigration Commissioner Norman Tansingco.
These centers will be built to address online fraud incidents and other forms of cybercrime.
According to the agreement, the agency would help with cybercrime and fraud cases involving foreigners.
The head of the BI stated on Tuesday that “this invaluable relationship between government agencies is a key step towards eliminating cybercrime in the country.”
Foreign nationals engaging in cybercrime were simultaneously cautioned by Tansingco that they could not avoid responsibility and would be deported as well as banned.
The CICC is the government’s principal coordinating organization for combating cybercrime.
