SoKor provides $7M to improve the management of PNP investigation data.
The Philippine National Police’s (PNP) investigative data management has been given a boost thanks to USD7 million allocated by the Korean government.
The project will create a criminal investigation data management and analysis system for the organization, and it will be carried out through the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) between 2023 and 2028.
The forthcoming program follows a USD6.6 million KOICA project to give the PNP 130 police vehicles, 142 motorcycles, and 120 forensic investigation kits, according to a fact sheet from the Korean Embassy.
The PNP recently recognized Korea’s commitment to the nation’s efforts to combat crime at the 28th Quarterly Joint Consultative Meeting between the embassy and PNP.
The embassy pledged to collaborate closely with the PNP.
In a statement dated November 24, Korea stated that it “believes that the strong relationship between Korea and the Philippines in the field of crime prevention and solution would assist in developing a safer business and tourism environment in the Philippines.”
Prior to the pandemic, Koreans made up the majority of the 8.3 million international arrivals the Philippines saw in 2019 (more than 1.98 million).
