AFP hosts a national summit on ROTC

A national face-to-face and online summit for Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) officers and cadets was held on Saturday by the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).

Lt. Gen. Bartolome Vicente Bacarro, chief of staff of the AFP, served as the honoree and the keynote speaker during the event, which took place at Tejeros Hall at Camp Aguinaldo in Quezon City.

He continued, “I sincerely provide my unshakable support to the President’s endeavor to pursue required military training programs as the CSAFP (Chief-of-Staff, AFP).

The goal of this year’s theme, “ROTC Cadets of Today, Leaders of Tomorrow,” is to advocate for the advancement of the ROTC and draw attention to the strengthening of the AFP reserve force.

This program, according to Bacarro, “is not just for the marches and the physical challenge, but it also inspires youth leaders to go out and contribute to our envisioned best for our country.”

A historical tour and town hall was held at the Bantayog ng mga Bayani in San Juan, Cainta, Rizal on Nov. 26 as a part of the summit’s first phase with the goal of enlightening attendees on the history of the ROTC and the contribution of ROTC cadets during World War II.

Additionally, it encouraged people to value history, revive nationalism and patriotism, and love their country. Additionally, attendees received updates on the National Citizens Service Training Bill, ROTC regulations, and the Revised IRR to Republic Act 9163, generally known as the National Service Training Program Act of 2001.

They also saw the beginning of “Oplan Rehistro,” a project that aims to track down all ROTC grads in the nation.
