Marcos wants additional artists’ grants and cultural infrastructure.

In order to advance and support the nation’s cultural and creative sectors, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. intends to offer artists additional infrastructure and scholarships, according to a presidential adviser for creative communications and filmmaker Paul Soriano.

Helping artists in all fields, especially those who are just starting their careers, is crucial, according to Soriano.

“The President has informed me that he intends to reinstate the grants and scholarships. In order to support our artists, he wants to be able to develop additional cultural infrastructure. In a news conference held at the Winford Hotel Ballroom in Manila, he spoke about building villages and communities where individuals may truly create.

Soriano claimed he is presently figuring out how to navigate the bureaucracy and will “aggressively” start carrying out these plans by January of next year, despite the fact that he did not provide detailed plans under his position.

He stated, “The President has told me many times that it’s truly the creative industries. I asked for some time to set up and study so that I could creatively explain what’s in the President’s heart.

In an effort to strengthen the cultural and creative industries in the nation, Soriano emphasized the significance of “inter-agency executions” with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) and Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP).

“I firmly believe that there cannot be a single agency that will radically alter everything. We intend to carry out numerous inter-agency executions where I can collaborate with the FDCP, NCCA, and museums and simply breathe some life into my ideas,” he continued.

He explained that his role as an adviser was not to issue directives, but rather to listen and provide suggestions.

“I am not entering this government to impose things on people or tell them what to do. I prefer to listen and provide suggestions. Additionally, my office allows me to develop my own programs, and there are some initiatives I’ll be carrying out from there the following year, he said.

“No, that doesn’t imply I’ll be in control of that. I have a strong belief in teamwork. We’ll work together as a team to revitalize the arts and culture of our wonderful nation. To collaborate with them is the goal. If you have a creative agency, that could be the best way to put it,” he continued.

Soriano asserted that the inclusion of fresh perspectives in politics might help the creative and cultural sectors grow “even more.

That may be who I am. I’m that fresh voice that might support current organizations. I’m not going to impose anything; instead, I’m here to assist, listen, and possibly offer suggestions.

As part of his efforts to “creatively explain” the administration’s goals and programs, he added that he has already visited with a select group of government organizations, including the Departments of Tourism, Migrant Workers, the Interior, and Local Government.

“I’m hoping I can help a little bit. Together, we can accomplish this with your help. It’s important, in my opinion, to have a single, concise message. I also have a mandate to, at the very least, synergize the message. Create some country branding, he commanded.

polarizing sector

Soriano said that he might have had some conflicts with other creatives, but he expressed the hope that they could put aside their differences and work together for the good of the nation.

We might differ on a lot of things, but if we can work together to make the creative sector even better, terrific. It has caused a lot of polarization, but I choose to focus on their innovation rather than that of the opposing side. I want to connect with my creative peers; let’s collaborate, he added.

He stated that he respects the perspectives of those who have criticized him and his wife, actress Toni Gonzaga, and that he will “stretch his hand” to them.

“At the end of the day, it only means that our country will be better if we can support our President. We risk missing this chance if we continue to concentrate too much on the past, whether it be yesterday or years ago, he continued.
