No outbreak of HFMD has been reported in the NCR, according to DOH

The Department of Health (DOH) reported on Tuesday that there is no epidemic of hand, foot, and mouth disease (HFMD) in Metro Manila.
DOH officer-in-charge Maria Rosario Vergeire stated during a news conference that although there had been an increase in HFMD cases in the area, these instances had been documented for several months.
“There is no currently known outbreak of the diseases hand, foot, and mouth. (We did not proclaim an outbreak of hand, foot, and mouth disease. Instead, it spread over the course of two to three months in the National Capital Region. It took two to three months for it to happen here in the NCR; it did not happen overnight “She spoke.
In Metro Manila, 155 instances of HFMD have been reported from October to December of this year, with most of the victims being youngsters under the age of 11.
Vergeire claimed that all cases of the illness are routinely reported to the organization.
“Although there has been an uptick in instances over the past week, there hasn’t yet been a trigger or sufficient evidence for our local governments to declare an outbreak in their region. All of these are controllable and avoidable “She spoke.
The World Health Organization (WHO) states that although it can affect adults and adolescents, HFMD primarily affects children.
Common symptoms of the illness, which is typically moderate and self-limiting, include fever, painful mouth sores, and a rash with blisters on the hands, feet, and buttocks.
However, the WHO warns that more serious symptoms like meningitis, encephalitis, and paralysis similar to polio could potentially manifest.
