Unreported aneurysm cases predominate in PH: DOH
According to a health authority, most aneurysm instances in the nation go unreported and unrecorded.
According to Maria Rosario Vergeire, the Department of Health officer-in-charge, “Kasi usually kapag dumating sa ospital it’s already at that late stage, hindi na nakakagawa nung scanning na kailangan (Usually, the patient is brought to the hospital at the late stage, we’re unable to do the needed scanning) to confirm that it was really an aneurysm.”
Following reports that aneurysm cases “seem to increase in and the casualties are increasingly younger,” Vergeire made the declaration.
“Most of the time, it would be reported as cerebrovascular episodes and we see that among the top leading causes of death dito sa ating bansa,” she said.
It is therefore documented as a stroke and not an aneurysm when it is not actually a stroke. “So, lumalabas na-stroke ‘yung pasiyente pero ‘di nado-document na aneurysm pala ‘yung nangyari and not really stroke.”
The weakening of a person’s arteries, through which blood travels from the heart to the body’s many organs, is the hallmark of the aneurysm condition.
It can also happen in the heart, belly, or legs in addition to the brain.
The most typical signs of it in the brain are excruciating headaches, dizziness, and sudden collapse.
Some people endure terrible chest pain or stomachaches, and eventually, they lose consciousness. When this happens, Vergeire remarked, “Iyong iba masakit na masakit ‘yung dibdib o tiyan nila and eventually they lose consciousness, dadalhin na sila sa ospital.”
She said that uncontrolled causes like inherited disorders that weaken the body’s blood vessels and controllable elements like smoking can both contribute to aneurysm development.
“In order to prevent that [aneurysm], we must manage the things that we can manage, and primary care is how we accomplish that for this. People should regularly have their blood pressure monitored, especially if there is a family history of hypertension or if they lead unhealthy lifestyles like smoking, according to the expert.
The public can receive guidance on the effective treatment and prevention of this type of illness from the nation’s primary healthcare facilities, she noted.
After being in a vegetative state for five days, singer Jovit Baldivino passed away on Friday at 29.
When Baldovino became ill, he was taken to a hospital in Batangas City that was close to the scene of the incident.
According to a CT scan, his brain had blood clots, which medical professionals believe to be a symptom of an aneurysm.
He had been prescribed hypertension medicine for a week because the physicians had earlier urged him to rest.
