Rice supply from NFA sufficient for Kadiwa stores: PBBM
President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. stated on Saturday that the National Food Authority (NFA) had enough rice to supply Kadiwa retailers during the holiday season.
Marcos visited the Kadiwa ng Pasko site at the Malanday Covered Court while also touring an NFA warehouse in Valenzuela City.
In an impromptu interview, Marcos stated that he wanted to ensure that there was enough rice available to be sold at lower prices in all Kadiwa locations.
“This is already the season of bigas, so we want to make sure that Kadiwa stores have enough commodities that can be sold at a good price of PHP25,” he said. “We want to bring out more rice, and it’s already the season of bigas, so we want to make sure that Kadiwa stores have enough commodities that can be sold at a good price of PHP25.”
“I wonder if the supply that we are supplying to the Kadiwa is currently manggagaling. I’m examining the source of the rice being sold at Kadiwa stores, so pinuntahan ko muna kung may laman naman ‘yung mga warehouse at merong parating pa nga. I, therefore, investigated the warehouse to see if there was enough quantity. More supply will be available “Marcos threw in.
The Kadiwa ng Pasko project attempts to increase local farmers’ incomes by establishing a food supply chain that is straight from farm to consumer and free of marketing intermediaries.
Priced at PhP150 per kilo are onion shallots and PhP170 per kilo are native onions. The necessities for Noche Buena are likewise less expensive.
The current director of the Department of Agriculture, Marcos, stated that he is working on a solution to the onion smuggling problem and anticipates having a solution by next week.
“Naghahanap nga kami ng paraan kasi normally ‘yung kakasuhan mo pa bago i-auction, as soon as possible. By the time of the auction, there was no sira. We are looking for a solution since ordinarily, you have to submit a case before holding an auction, so as I said earlier, you must do so. Mailagay sa market at all times. It requires time. When you hold the auction, you are unable to sell [the onions]. We must act swiftly to address the situation and sell every onion on the market “added Marcos.
He exclaimed his joy at the opening of the Kadiwa ng Pasko caravan in Valenzuela City, the newest addition to the more than 350 Kadiwa centers across the country.
In order to make the caravan successful, he praised the participating government organizations as well as other Kadiwa partners and participants.
Marcos reaffirmed his commitment to carrying out the Kadiwa ng Pasko project well after the holiday season.
“The Kadiwa ng Pasko project is our way of helping to offer you a merrier Christmas this year,” Marcos said. “Ang Kadiwa ng Pasko ay ang aming munting pagtulong para naman eh maging mas masaya ang ating Pasko itong taon na ito.” Even after Christmas, we will continue the effort so that our citizens can obtain more reasonably priced items. “Kahit na matapos na ang Pasko, ipapagpatuloy po natin ito para mayroon pagkukuhanan ang ating mga kababayan ng mas murang bilihin.”
