Customers in Manila Electric Company (Meralco) franchise regions should anticipate lower electricity costs in August…

Reduced generation costs reduce power rates in Bacolod and surrounding areas.

In this city and its five bordering cities and municipalities, home power tariffs were modestly reduced in December due to lower generating, fuel, and other costs.
The Central Negros Electric Cooperative (Ceneco) reported that the average household tariff fell from PHP16.2972 per kilowatt hour (kWh) in November to PHP16.20 this month, a decrease of PHP0.0966 per kWh.
The cities of Bago, Talisay, and Silay, as well as the municipalities of Murcia and Don Salvador Benedicto, are included in Ceneco’s coverage area in addition to Bacolod, the provincial capital of Negros Occidental.
Following a decrease in the cost of fuel and the price of the power supplier, acting general manager Vic Alvaro reported a total net reduction in generation charges of 1.19 percent.
Additionally, he mentioned reduced value-added tax, generation rate adjustment method, and incremental currency exchange rate adjustment, as well as other pass-through charges, particularly in lifeline and senior citizen subsidies.
But according to Alvaro, people who use power should consider more than just the amount on their account.
He continued that the sum fluctuates according to the pass-through fees.
Even though fuel prices on the global market are still high and have an impact on electricity rates, we advise people to save energy to avoid paying higher electricity bills, Alvaro said.
