Palace urges the public to practice safety during the Christmas holiday
Malacanang advised the populace on Saturday to keep up with the minimal public health criteria to guarantee a secure Christmas celebration.
The Office of the Press Secretary (OPS) issued a warning in a Facebook post that the coronavirus illness 2019 (Covid-19) continues to pose a risk to the general public’s health.
In light of our ongoing battle against COVID-19, “This Christmas, consider the safety of everyone, especially our family and friends,” the OPS said. “Ngayong Pasko, alalahanin ang kaligtasan ng ating sarili, pamilya, at mga kaibigan.”
“While the restrictions on gatherings have been further relaxed, adhering to health protocols will still be a great aid in ensuring our good health as we enjoy Christmas and New Year,” it continued.
The OPS recommended constant face mask use, frequent hand washing, social isolation, sufficient airflow, and vaccination.
The Department of Health (DOH) reported on Friday that four cases of the more contagious BF.7 Omicron subvariant had been found in the Philippines.
However, the DOH claimed that the number of Covid-19 infections may not reach 5,000 after the holiday season and that the situation may still be under control.
