The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) on Tuesday opened a 24-hour complaints hotline where members of the public can voice their concerns over the registration of SIM cards.

The first two weeks of the SIM registration’s implementation are thought of as a test period, according to DICT spokesman and Undersecretary Anna Mae Lamentillo.

As the public telecoms enterprises (PTEs) optimize their individual processes, some hiccups or technological problems are to be expected, she continued.

“A test phase of the first 15 days beginning December 27. This indicates that all registrations made during this time frame are valid, although we have always anticipated that there may be some challenges because both subscribers and PTEs are unfamiliar with this process. The PTEs will be able to determine what has to be improved during this 15-day test period in order to make the subscriber registration process more effective and simple, according to a statement from Lamentillo.

The 24-hour complaint center will act as a support system for the implementation of SIM registration since it will give SIM subscribers a place to voice their complaints and make improvements to the procedure.

Ivan John Uy, the secretary of the DICT, wants the SIM registration to be completed as quickly as possible within 180 days, and wants to make sure that it will go as smoothly as feasible. Because of this, we established a complaint center that is open twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, she stated.

The Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center, a DICT-affiliated entity, would house the SIM registration complaint center.
