DSWD-11 assists NorMin people who are impacted by shear lines.

This week, families in Region 10 or Northern Mindanao hit by shear line-induced rainfall will get food packages from the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s regional office in Davao (DSWD-11).
DSWD-11 announced on Facebook that it is assembling 5,000 family food packs (FFPs) for delivery to Iligan City on Wednesday (Dec. 28).
The statement read, “The DSWD is mandated to supplement food and non-food products to local government units affected by different types of catastrophes under the Response Pillar of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC),”
As of Dec. 27, the NDRRMC reported that there have been 25 fatalities associated with shear line-induced rainfall, which led to intense rains and flooding across the Visayas and Mindanao.
Reports of 22 fatalities—16 in Region 10 (Northern Mindanao), five in Region 5 (Bicol), and one in Region 9—are still awaiting confirmation (Zamboanga Peninsula).
Two missing people reports in Region 10 are also being investigated.
