32 more injuries from fireworks: DOH

Seven more fireworks-related injuries have been reported by the Department of Health (DOH), bringing the total from December 21 to December 27 to 32.

On December 27, the DOH recorded new injuries from its 61 sentinel hospitals across the nation.

“At present, the overall number of injuries caused by fireworks is 32, up by 39% compared to the same period last year,” it stated in a statement on Wednesday.

The DOH urged people to avoid using firecrackers during celebrations as New Year’s Eve draws near.

“Avoid fireworks to be able to welcome Christmas and New Year’s with the family complete and safe,” it said. “Umiwas sa paputok para maaaring magdiwang nang kumpleto at ligtas ang buong pamilya ngayong Pasko at Bagong Taon.”
