NegOcc allocates P15 million for contractual and JO workers’ gratuities.

The provincial government of Negros Occidental has set aside about PHP 15 million for the December gratuity payments to its COS and JO employees.
The fiscal allocation was approved during the normal session of the Provincial Board on Tuesday afternoon, according to Vice Governor Jeffrey Ferrer, who serves as acting governor while Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson is on leave until January 3.
According to Ferrer, “that’s the sole thing on the agenda and it was passed.”
There are currently 1,740 COS and JO employees working for the province government, and earlier this month, Lacson and Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz II sent them gift packages containing rice, noche buena products, and canned goods.
On December 23, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. issued Administrative Order (AO) 3, which authorized the disbursement of a one-time gratuity pay for all government employees employed under the COS and JO schemes, up to a maximum of PHP5,000.
According to AO 3, COS and JO employees who have completed their actual satisfactory performance of duty in fewer than four months may also be eligible for a one-time gratuity payment on a pro-rata basis.
According to AO 3, persons who have worked for the government for three but fewer than four months would receive a gratuity pay of up to PHP4,000, while those who have worked for two but fewer than three months will receive a payment of up to PHP3,000.
Those who have worked less than two months will receive a gratuity compensation of up to PHP2,000.
All employees who are directly employed by local water districts, state universities and colleges, government-owned and controlled businesses, and national government agencies through COS and JO are covered by AO 3.
