The Chinese Embassy in Manila said Wednesday that President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s state visit to China will take place from January 3 to January 6.

The Embassy stated in a text message that “preparation is continuing as planned” and that despite an increase in coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases in China, the dates had not been altered.

The Department of Health previously stated that as long as the group adheres to the advised health regimen, there is no need for Marcos to postpone his trip in light of the outbreak.

“The President’s visits to foreign countries are essential to our economy,” DOH Officer-in-Charge Maria Rosario Vergeire stated on December 27. “If the safeguards are in place, he is completely immunized, and following to (sic) basic public health standard, the danger (of infection) would be very low.”

As per President Xi Jinping’s invitation, the CEO is traveling to Beijing.

The Federation of Filipino Chinese Chambers of Commerce & Industry, Inc. (FFCCCII) stated in a press conference on Wednesday that this visit is anticipated to have positive economic effects on the Philippines, particularly given that China has grown closer to the nation’s economy and trade in recent years.

Henry Lim Bon Liong, the president of the FFCCCII, said that the organization will join the Philippine delegation in January.

Because China is both our neighbor and the world’s burgeoning new economic giant, he said, “We believe this historic state visit is highly essential to the growth potentials of the Philippine economy.”

This state visit by the Philippines is an excellent chance, he continued, to employ high-level diplomacy to advance further economic and commercial ties between the Philippines and China.

Additionally, he expressed the expectation that the trip will advance the recently ended joint oil and gas exploration negotiations.
