NCRPO advises partygoers to ring in the New Year safely.

While stepping up its campaign against illicit firecrackers that put people in danger and cause accidents, the police have advised the public to enjoy the New Year in safety.
Maj. Gen. Jonnel Estomo, chief of the National Capital Region Officers (NCRPO), stated that police would work with local barangays and village peacekeepers to guarantee that Republic Act 7183, which governs the sale, manufacturing, distribution, and use of firecrackers, is upheld.
“The police advise our citizens to exercise caution and abide by the rules governing fireworks and lighting every year. We shall never forget that ringing in the new year is most joyful when we, our loved ones and those around us are secure in their physical and mental well-being, Estomo said in a statement on Thursday.
Estomo stated that 1,369 police personnel will continue to be deployed to the fullest extent possible for Ligtas Paskuhan 2022 and strictly enforce the laws and regulations already in place regarding the use of firecrackers.
The general people are invited to witness fireworks displays in local cities rather than setting off firecrackers on their own. To encourage the responsible use of permitted pyrotechnics to ring in the new year, several cities have established common firecracker zones.
Police officers and gun owners are both advised against utilizing their weapons during the New Year’s celebrations.
“All NCRPO personnel were sternly advised not to use their supplied firearms during this yearly event, or they would be subject to the harshest punishment. Remember that the Chief of the PNP, Gen. Rodolfo Azurin Jr., trusted and confided in them to act properly by not taping the rifles they had been given, Estomo added.
