The Bangsamoro Board of Investments (BBOI) reported on Friday that the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) had created PHP1.3 billion in investments and 1,052 employees so far this year.

However, according to a statement from the BBOI, the amount represents only 64% of their PHP2-B investment goal for this year.

“We shouldn’t view this increase in investment as a bad thing. Without going into detail as to why the goal wasn’t met, BBOI chairman Mohammad Pasigan remarked, “We should consider this as a challenge.

Pasigan noted that the region had helped BARMM residents by creating 1,052 new employment this year.

Pasigan once observed that, compared to other sectors, agriculture received the highest level of investment. He claimed that this year, investors also poured money into fields including infrastructure, industry, and energy.

The Pagana Kutawato Corporation invested PHP100 million this year, as did Hanabana Construction and Equipment Corporation (PHP96 million), and Usman Banana Farm (PHP96 million) (PHP278 million),

Other significant contributors included Austrian Trade and Investments Group, Inc. (PHP170 million), and Nama Concrete Phils. Corporation (PHP341 million), Mt. Kalatungan Agri-Ventures, Inc. (PHP223 million), and the Kaltimex Rural Energy Corporation (PHP76 million).

These investments would inspire regional investors to encourage national and even international investors to come in, according to Pasigan, given the great potential of the BARMM, the certainty, and the more stable law and order situation under the leadership of Chief Minister Ahod Ebrahim.

He promised that the BBOI will make more efforts to promote investments by conducting regional strategic investment priorities plan discussions to draw investors through business coaching and investment facilitation by the end of the next year.
