Chinese fugitive is apprehended by BI at NAIA

A Chinese fugitive was apprehended at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport, according to a notification from the Bureau of Immigration (BI) on Monday (NAIA).
The foreigner, Chen Yiye, 48, who attempted to board a China Southern Airlines flight at NAIA Terminal 1 on January 5 was recognized in a statement by Dennis Alcedo, chief of the BI’s Border Control and Intelligence Unit.
His name was discovered to be on the BI’s blacklist and to be a charged fugitive with a deportation case issued in 2017 after records were examined by immigration personnel.
Chen is a retired person living here. He was found in possession of 36.58 kg of shabu, estimated to have a street value of PHP100 million, when he was arrested in August 2016 in Angeles City, Pampanga.
Commissioner Norman Tansingco, on the other side, praised the port staff for the interception.
“These fugitives have no business being in our nation. As a result, he will be deported, and since his name is on our blacklist, he will not be permitted to enter the Philippines again, the official said in a statement.
In anticipation of his deportation, Chen was sent to the BI’s warden facility inside Camp Bagong Diwa in Bicutan, Taguig.
