DSWD assists Bicol LGUs suffering from the consequences of the poor weather.

Residents who have been severely impacted by the northeast monsoon and low-pressure system that continue to produce heavy rainfall over the region have received further support from the Department of Social Welfare and Development in Bicol (DSWD-5)
Family food packets (FFPs) were distributed to the local government units (LGUs) of Camalig in Albay, Daet in Camarines Norte, and San Miguel in Catanduanes, according to a statement from the agency.
It said, “As of Monday, a total of 1,522 family food boxes costing PHP690,177.26 was supplied as relief augmentation to the LGUs.”
In case LGUs require them for their relief efforts, there are also 50,840 non-food goods and 41,486 standby food packs available for distribution.
In addition to these, a PHP5 million reserve fund is prepared for distribution in the event that more food kits and non-food packs are required.
A family of five can eat from each family meal pack for at least two days.
The effects of the weather disturbance have left 23 families, or 97 people, in evacuation shelters in Camarines Norte and Camarines Sur, according to Gremil Alexis Naz, spokeswoman for the Office of Civil Defense-Bicol (OCD-5)
There have been 46 floodings reported, 17 of which have not yet subsided.
According to Naz, there have also been reports of rain-related landslides in Camarines Norte (4), Camarines Sur (1), and Sorsogon (1).
In Camarines Norte, he continued, one partially damaged house had been recorded. Additionally, 17 local road segments and two local bridges are impassable in the area.
The provincial and local disaster risk reduction and management councils of the several impacted LGUs in the region are continually monitored and updated by OCD-Bicol. Mobilities are prepared for any potential deployment, according to Naz.
