In his discussions with the leaders of the European Union (EU) in Switzerland, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. would reiterate the Philippines’ dedication to maintaining world peace.

When asked if he will speak on the phone with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the President responded in this way.

“Now that mainit na ang giyera doon sa kanila, I have no issue speaking with President Zelenskyy” (there is ongoing war there). Therefore, it goes without saying that we are still on the side of peace, as Marcos stated in an interview while traveling to Davos.

The chief executive stated, “Any expressions of support that he might feel is needed, we are pleased to deliver it.

The President responded, “That’s not for us to determine,” when asked by the media if the Philippine government would endorse the alleged 10-point peace formula to end the crisis in Ukraine.

If discussions take place between Russia and Ukraine, sila mag-uusap tungkol diyan” (they should talk about it). Anything that promotes peace is welcomed by us, Marcos remarked. “As long as killing and hostilities end, we embrace it,” he added.

The President emphasized that the matter was obviously between the two countries: “Tapos kung papaano nila gagawin, what will they do with the regions that have changed posture and Cetera.”

Zelenskyy previously outlined a 10-point peace plan for peace, which among other things called for the release of prisoners and deportees as well as the departure of Russian forces from Ukraine and an end to hostilities.
