To increase the provision of essential healthcare services to remote communities, the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao’s Ministry of Health (MOH-BARMM) established four new barangay health stations in Maguindanao del Sur over the weekend.

MOH-BARMM Minister Dr. Rizaldy Piang stated in a statement on Monday that his office has concentrated on building more medical facilities as the threat posed by coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) “seems to be slowing down.”

He said that on Saturday, the villages of Manindolo in Datu Paglas town, Muti in Guindulungan town, and Kakal and Kapinpilan in Ampatuan town received health stations worth PHP2.5 million each from the MOH-BARMM.

Since there is now a health station in their village, inhabitants of Ampatuan Town won’t need to go as far for care, Piang noted, adding that the health stations were staffed by medical personnel.

He claimed that each local health station has equipment of PHP500,000.

Two of these projects were sponsored by the BARMM’s “Tiyakap Bangsamoro Kalusugan Program,” while the other two were funded by the Special Development Fund, he continued.
