For a graduate scholarship grant, the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) is looking for qualified candidates who intend to study for masters and doctoral degrees in science and technology in Taiwan.

The fellowship is available to any Filipinos who are 50 years of age or younger and in their first five years of research, according to DOST Ilocos Region regional director Armando Ganal.

Additionally, they must meet the standards for admission to graduate programs at a reputable overseas university. Additionally, their research interests must be compatible with the national R&D plan that has been coordinated by the DOST.

The initiative is currently accepting applications from anyone who wishes to participate, according to Ganal, who also noted that the application deadline is April 15, 2023.

Health, agriculture, and renewable energy are key sectors, according to the DOST.

The grant, which is co-funded by the Taiwanese government, covers tuition fees, book expenditures, thesis or dissertation expenses, travel expenses, special pre-departure costs, living expenses, relocation expenses, as well as health or accident insurance.

Scientists and researchers from the Philippines and Taiwan are working together on a research initiative on topics like virology, nutritional genomics, and artificial intelligence through the Manila Economic Cultural Office (MECO) and Taiwan Economic Cultural Office (TECO).

According to the DOST website, in addition to Taiwan, other countries offering overseas scholarship funds this year include Japan, China, India, and France.

As the date for the request for proposals has not yet been set, the public was asked to often monitor the DOST website and DOST International Cooperation Facebook page for updates and announcements.
