From January 16 to 20, nearly 5K indigents will receive P33.9 million in medical assistance, according to PCSO



On Tuesday, the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) announced that from January 16 to January 20, a total of 4,949 qualified beneficiaries nationwide received PHP33.9 million in medical assistance.
The state lottery department stated that the monies were distributed to recipients through its Medical Access Program, citing its most recent data (MAP).
The recipients include 654 poor people from the National Capital Region who received PHP7.7 million in aid, 965 poor people from Northern and Central Luzon who received PHP7.6 million in aid, and 1,271 poor people from the Southern Tagalog and Bicol Region who received PHP6.2 million in aid.
Medical assistance totaling PHP6.1 million was given to 984 people in the Visayas and PHP5.7 million to 1,075 people in Mindanao.
The MAP, formerly known as the Individual Medical Assistance Program, is intended to supplement medical aid for impoverished Filipinos, especially for hospitalization, chemotherapy, dialysis, and post-transplant medications.
All around the country, PCSO game profits are used to support the program.
