US stocks rise and close at a month-high.
Monday’s finish was the highest for the major US stock market indices in a month.
To end the day at 33,629.56, the Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 254.07 points, or 0.76 percent. To reach 4,019.81, the S&P 500 increased by 47.20 points, or 1.19 percent.
To close the first trading day of the week at 11,364.41, the heavily tech-weighted Nasdaq increased by over 224 points, or 2.01 percent.
The fear index, popularly referred to as the VIX volatility index, decreased 0.2 percent to 19.81. The yield on the US 10-year Treasury increased by 1.1 percent to 3.523 percent.
The dollar index improved by 0.06 percent to 102.07, while the euro gained 0.14 percent against the dollar to USD1.0870.
Silver fell 2% to USD23.46 while gold rose 0.3 percent to USD1,931 per ounce in the precious metals market.
The price of crude oil increased, with US benchmark West Texas Intermediate crude rising by 0.05 percent daily to USD81.68 and global benchmark Brent crude rising by 0.6 percent to USD88.16 a barrel.
