9 coops in Agusan del Sur receive P2.7 million in funding

At least nine regional cooperatives in the province of Agusan del Sur have each received financial help from the provincial government in the amount of PHP300,000.
The Sustainable Cooperative Operation Performance Enhancement (SCOPE) program of the Provincial Agriculture Office of Agusan del Sur was the source of the financing, according to a statement released by the Provincial Information Office of Agusan del Sur (PIO) on Tuesday (Jan. 24, 2023).
The SCOPE initiative, it was added, intends to support the province’s cooperatives’ economic business operations. On Monday, Governor Santiago Cane Jr. oversaw the aid distribution.
While the other beneficiaries came from the municipalities of Esperanza, Prosperidad, Santa Josefa, Veruela, San Francisco, Loreto, and Bayugan City, two of the recipient cooperatives are from the municipality of Trento.
Nelia Labaso Codoy, the manager of Remedios Farmers Multipurpose Cooperative in Esperanza town, said in a phone interview on Tuesday that they plan to use the financial assistance to expand their catering business, which has been operating for more than three years.
“We are really appreciative of the provincial government’s financial assistance. Our cooperative’s catering industry will benefit from this, according to Codoy.
She continued by saying that the 186 members of their cooperative will also profit from an increased catering company.
