Philippines startup named “Best Brand” in Asia

A recent award for the finest B2B e-commerce brand in Southeast Asia, South Asia, and ANZ (Australia, New Zealand) was given to the technology B2B platform GrowSari. In the Asia E-Commerce Awards 2022, the Philippine startup was honored for elevating and digitizing Filipino mom-and-pop shops to become holistic service hubs for the community.

Growsari’s chief marketing officer, Maimai Madrid Punazalan, said, “We are happy to get this award as it is a tribute to a true local Philippine brand we established ourselves with advertising and demand-generation efforts done in-house and gaining recognized in Asia E-commerce space.

Growsari received recognition for its social impact on the Filipino underclass last year from a number of awarding organizations. The platform for sari-sari stores and MSMEs (micro, small, and medium-sized businesses) was also recognized as one of the top start-ups in the Philippines on Linkedin Awards 2022, received the Trailblazer Award in Asiastar 10×10 by Alibaba Cloud and KrASIA, and won a global digital commercial innovation award in the BAI Global Innovation Awards.

GrowSari expanded its expansion strategy in 2022 and began serving the rest of the Philippines. GrowSari began operating additional hubs in the Visayas and Mindanao by June 2022, creating a presence in important towns including Iloilo, Bacolod, Cebu, and Davao. To date, GrowSari has provided services to more than 250,000 sari-sari businesses. These retailers are increasing the platform’s total monthly revenue by 2.6 times compared to 2021 not only by placing orders for FMCG products but also by allowing their suki (regular customers) to use e-services.

GrowSari is dedicated to completing its aim of creating a digitally inclusive platform in 2023, Punzalan said. It will also continue to provide MSMEs with income opportunities and support the digitization of sari-sari stores.

GrowSari intends to offer more than 50,000 of its users a Universal Digital Payments QR Code that will accept payments from various wallets and banks to stores in the following year. The service enables their suki to make payments by QR code that will be directly and instantly deposited to their Growcoins, GrowSari’s in-app money, which is considered as making their lives even easier.

GrowSari can supply 60 percent of the sari-sari businesses in its serviceable areas because of its 20 warehouses spread across the country. The ultimate goal of GrowSari is to connect with and support the more than 1.1 million sari-sari stores across the country, serving as a true partner in enhancing their lives as GrowSari helps them build the store of their dreams.
