Pope willing to meet with combatants for peace in Ukraine

In order to negotiate peace in Ukraine, Pope Francis stated on Sunday that he is ready to meet with both Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
On the journey from South Sudan back to Rome, he made the comments while holding a news conference.
“I would be interested in meeting both the Ukrainian and Russian leaders. If I haven’t been to Kyiv, it’s because I couldn’t travel to Moscow at the time, but I was conversing instead “According to Vatican News, he stated.
“In fact, on the second day of the conflict, I went to the Russian Embassy to express my desire to visit Moscow and speak with Putin, if only there was a little window of opportunity for negotiations. Sergey Lavrov, the foreign minister of Russia, then retorted that he was thinking about it but added, “Let’s see later.”
The Pope noted that there are other wars going on in the globe than the Russia-Ukraine conflict, saying that Syria has been at war for 12 or 13 years. Yemen has been at war for more than ten years. Consider Myanmar and the unfortunate Rohingya people who fled their country and now wander the globe. How many war-focusing hotspots are there in Latin America?
The world is at war and on the verge of self-destruction, so yes, there are more important wars because of the noise they create. We must act responsibly since it is destroying itself. We need to act quickly because one bomb causes a chain reaction that causes bigger and bigger bombs to fall on you, and you never know where it will lead. We must maintain our composure.
The Pope further stated that he is considering traveling to India in 2024.
