After reaching 408,259 people on Tuesday, the most in a single day since the train service commenced operations in June 2020, the Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) has continued to set records for ridership.
The MRT-3 acknowledged an increase in daily ridership in a Facebook post on Wednesday. On February 1, a record 400,182 daily passengers were recorded; on February 8, that number was topped by 403,128.
There are typically 18 train sets running on the mainline during peak hours, according to the statement.
The Inter-Agency Council for Traffic (I-ACT) also praised the MRT-3 on Monday and gave it the “Tapat na Lingkod (loyal service)” award for its “safe and reliable” transportation during the Covid-19 outbreak.
The MRT-3 noted in Filipino, “The I-ACT recognized the significant contribution of the MRT-3 that allowed commuters of the EDSA Busway to use facilities of the train service for an efficient and reasonably priced transportation system.
The “Pagpaparangal sa mga Dakilang Lingkod Bayan (Recognizing Great Public Servants)” I-ACT award event took place on Monday at the SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City.
I-ACT chief Charlie Del Rosario is in charge of this inter-agency group, which is part of the DOTr.
