Zubiri: Senate staff will receive one-time assistance against inflation.

Juan Miguel Zubiri, president of the Senate, stated on Monday that the regular staff of the Senate will get an inflationary adjustment of PHP50,000 in August instead of PHP12,000 this year.
Zubiri claimed that the money would come from Senate savings and that they would also raise the medical help they would receive in September from PHP30,000 to PHP50,000.
“We’ll use our savings,” he stated during the flag-raising ceremony on Monday. “In the Senate, we prefer to give greater incentives to employees if we have enough money.”
He advised the about 3,000 Senate rank-and-file staff to cut back on their spending so they can receive more while stating that the inflationary adjustment support will help with their everyday expenses.
I previously urged them to cut back on paper and overtime so that employee incentives and bonuses could be returned to them, which would make them more highly motivated. “Ang pakiusap ko nga kanina na sana (I urged them long ago) [that] we spend less on paper and less time working overtime so that employee incentives and bonuses can be returned to them as well, which would make them more highly motivated)
The Senate President, who noted that the living wage today is higher than the minimum wage, said he supports initiatives to raise the minimum wage, particularly for the private sector.
In order to help workers cope with the rising cost of living, he urged the private sector to boost the minimum wage for their workers.
