Rains are expected to fall throughout Luzon due to the southwest monsoon
The southwest monsoon, which is anticipated to hit the island on Thursday, will bring rain to much of Luzon.
Over the Ilocos Region, Apayao, Abra, Benguet, Cagayan, Bataan, Zambales, Occidental Mindoro, and northern Palawan, including the Kalayaan Islands, cloudy skies with sporadic rain showers and thunderstorms will dominate.
“During heavy rains, flooding is a possibility,” said Benison Estareja of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
The majority of the Visayas, on the other hand, will see partly overcast to cloudy sky with isolated rain showers that may last just a few minutes.
Rain is possible over Mindanao, and thunderstorms are expected in the afternoon, according to Estareja.
According to Estareja, there is presently no gale warning in force. Over the whole archipelago, light to moderate breezes and minor to moderate waves will persist.
Meanwhile, PAGASA is keeping an eye on a tropical storm known as “Champi” across the world. It was last seen 1,970 kilometers east of the northernmost tip of Luzon.
“It is located on the northeastern edge of PAR, far from the (Philippine) mainland (Philippine Area of Responsibility). We do not anticipate it having a direct impact on the nation “he said
However, if the tropical storm continues to travel higher, Estareja believes it will strengthen the southwest monsoon.
