DAR’s chief promises farmers of support services

Conrado Estrella III, secretary of the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR), has committed to empowering ARBs by giving them all the necessary support services to ensure their success.

This happened as he gave 175 farmer-beneficiaries in the province of Aklan electronic land titles (also known as “e-titles”).

According to a press release issued by Estrella on Thursday, the nation will achieve food self-sufficiency if farmers are given the required support services.

Emelda Zonio, an ARB from the Libacao village of Guadalupe, vowed to constantly cultivate the property she already owned and increase its productivity.

It is written on this piece of paper, “Ang isang pirasong papel na ito ay nagpapa-alaala sa akin ng aking mga magulang na dati nang nagbubungkal sa lupaing ito. (This piece of paper made me think of my parents, who used to till this property.) Ang patunay ng pagmamay-ari ni ito ay magbibigay ng maraming oportunidad para sa aming pamilya. Our family will have a lot of chances thanks to this certificate of ownership, Zonio stated.

304.9723 hectares of agricultural property totaling 183 e-titles were distributed by Estrella in Aklan as part of the DAR’s Assistance to Parcelization of Lands for Individual Titling (SPLIT) Programme.

The e-titles delivered on February 16 are in the towns of Altavas, Buruanga, Ibajay, Libacao, Madalag, and Malay, according to DAR Western Visayas Regional Director Sheila Enciso.

The lengthy wait for the ARBs will soon be over since they will be able to completely enjoy the results of their labor by turning their lands productive, according to Enciso.

In addition to distributing land titles, the DAR handed over a PHP8.4 million double-lane modular steel bridge as part of the TPKP project, which stands for Tulay ng Pangulo para sa Kaunlarang Pang-Agraryo.

ARB organizations in Aklan’s second district were also handed farm machinery and equipment (FME) worth PHP275,850.

Also held was the groundbreaking for the PHP50 million farm-to-market highways, which will help about 20,000 farmers in the province.
