On Sunday, Martin Romualdez, the speaker of the House, announced that he would suggest to Malacanang a “one-strike policy” against non-performing collectors from the Department of Internal Revenue and the Bureau of Customs.

To ensure effective collection, Romualdez stated in a news release that collectors who fall short of their income goals ought to be fired and their positions should be filled by capable individuals.

He claimed that it would put pressure on the two organizations to reach the revenue goals that will guarantee more money for aid in the creation of jobs, hospitals, schools, and other social protection programs for the most disadvantaged groups.

According to Romualdez, the House of Representatives will utilize its oversight authority to keep an eye on how various departments and agencies are doing when it comes to carrying out policies and initiatives.

Let’s assist the government in achieving its revenue goals. I’m hoping that our call will make it obvious that we want the best work from our collectors,” he stated.

According to Romualdez, the government’s programs, particularly those in agriculture, health, education, and infrastructure, have been put at risk because the two agencies are unable to reach their revenue targets.
