PH keeps up its assistance effort for Filipinos in earthquake-stricken Turkey.
According to a report from the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Monday, the Philippine government is still helping Filipinos who have been impacted by the earthquake in southeast Turkey.
The second relief and evacuation operation to the provinces of Adana, Hatay, and Mersin has been completed, the DFA announced in a statement from the Philippine Embassy in Ankara, headed by Ambassador Maria Elena Algabre.
72 Filipinos living abroad have received cash support from the agency and the Department of Migrant Workers for more than three days.
It added that Filipinos who were particularly impacted by the most recent 6.4 and 5.8 earthquakes that occurred on February 20, 2023, had also received relief supplies.
The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration team has arrived, according to the DFA.
The embassy refuge, which is presently hosting 27 families, will benefit greatly from their management, it was stated.
The statement said, “The embassy continues to address the worries of our shelters, including extending their stay at the shelter as well as locating the suitable housing and financial programs and other services offered by the Turkish government and non-government organizations.”
Nine families from the initial wave of Filipinos are currently traveling back to the Philippines, and plans are being made for subsequent repatriation operations.
