BFP and DepEd collaborate to intensify the fire safety campaign
To increase fire safety knowledge among schoolchildren in Eastern Visayas, the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) has developed relationships with the Department of Education (DepEd).
The introduction of “Batang Bumberong Mag-aaral” (BBM), an initiative that will bring a fire safety campaign to all universities in the area, includes the signing of an agreement between the two organizations.
“This aims to teach pupils in elementary and high schools by incorporating fire safety information into their coursework and school disaster risk reduction management activities. During the launch on Tuesday at the Eastern Visayas State University campus here, Chief Supt. Adel Bautista, director of BFP 8 (Eastern Visayas), predicted that this will motivate children to learn more about fire safety.
Bebiano Sentillas, assistant regional director for DepEd Eastern Visayas, stated that the project will improve the relationship between BFP and the academic community in the area in terms of fire danger awareness.
“Educating the public is the most effective way to prevent fire. We cannot inspire individuals to commit to firing safety without education. As we have returned to five days of in-person instruction, this is appropriate and pertinent, Sentillas said to officials and students.
In order to improve collaborations against damaging fires and develop fire-safe schools in the area, the two authorities came to an agreement.
Produced and distributed by the initiative will be audio and video educational resources.
One of the activities for Fire Prevention Month in the area is the BBM launch.
The BFP planned a variety of events to celebrate Fire Prevention Month over the whole month.
These initiatives will heighten public understanding of fire safety and improve the bureau’s relationships with the local community.
With its subject “Sa Pag-iwas sa Sunog, Hindi Ka Nag-iisa,” Fire Prevention Month 2023 is highlighted by these events.***
