PBBM joins the world in acknowledging the importance of women.

On Wednesday, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. used social media to share a tweet thanking women all throughout the nation for their accomplishments, which were emphasized by women’s empowerment during his administration.

He wrote on Facebook and Twitter, “We congratulate women who continue to demonstrate courage and resolve in their home, workplace, and community. Saludo tayo sa ating mga kababaihan na patuloy na nagpapakita ng tapang at determinasyon.

Happy International Women’s Day, everybody! photographs of his wife, First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, and other female Cabinet members, such as Vice President and concurrent Education Secretary Sara Duterte, Secretary for Migrant Workers Susan Ople, and Secretary for the Presidential Communications Office Cheloy Garafil, were added to his post. Christina Frasco, Amenah Pangandaman, Maria Rosario Singh-Vergeire, and Maria Antonia Loyzaga are the secretaries of tourism, budget, and health, respectively.

According to the United Nations, every year on March 8, International Women’s Day is observed to honor women for their accomplishments regardless of national, ethnic, linguistic, cultural, economic, or political boundaries (UN).

Almost a million people demonstrated in support of women’s rights on the first International Women’s Day, observed in 1911 in Austria, Denmark, Germany, and Switzerland.

By virtue of Republic Act No. 6949, National Women’s Day is celebrated on March 8 in the Philippines.
The first week of March was designated as Women’s Week by Proclamation 224, and March 8 was designated as “Women’s Rights and International Peace Day” by Proclamation 227. Proclamation 224 also designated March as “Women’s Role in History Month.”

According to the website of the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW), the theme of this year’s National Women’s Day celebration will be “WE for gender equality and an inclusive society” from this year through 2028.

The acronym “WE” stands for women, everyone, and women’s empowerment.

The recurrent theme is consistent with the Philippine Development Plan 2023–2028, which seeks to “deeply alter the economy and society to re-energize job creation and expedite poverty reduction by guiding the economy back on a high-growth path.”

It also emphasizes how inclusive growth is essential for creating an environment where all Filipinos have equal access to opportunities and the tools they need to fully engage in a dynamic, internationally competitive economy.
