Tourism groups receive livelihood aid to Catanduanes by DOLE
Two community-based tourism organizations (CBTOs) in Bato town, Catanduanes province, have received livelihood aid from the Department of Labor and Employment in Bicol (DOLE-5) through its provincial office in Catanduanes.
Johana Vi Gasga, a spokesman for DOLE-5, stated in an interview on Monday that her organization is continuing to enhance its poverty reduction program by reviving various industries, like as tourism, and giving post-pandemic recovery livelihood help to the afflicted people.
“On March 9, DOLE Bicol Regional Director Ma. Zenaida A. Angara-Campita attended the ceremony and personally presented the local government of Bato, a DOLE-authorized co-partner, with a Kabuhayan check for PHP809,184. Both the Bote Eco-Tourist Guides Association and the Carorian Wonders Community Guides Association received livelihood support from the DOLE for initiatives supported by the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP) totaling PHP404,592 each “said Gasga.
She claimed that the support provided through the “Provision of Motor Boat and Touring Equipment” initiative will help the associations revive the tourist industry in the aforementioned municipality and offer them access to more sources of income and job possibilities.
For the working poor, vulnerable, and marginalized employees, DILP is a grant aid for livelihood initiatives that can be either individual or group-based.
