The National Defense College United Arab Emirates (NDC UAE) delegation’s Monday visit to the military’s headquarters in Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City, is an “opportunity to enhance connections with allies,” according to Gen. Andres Centino, chief of staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).

The study tour and visit, which takes place from March 11 to 18, aims to promote good defense relations between the Philippines and the UAE and to create mutual understanding.

Brigadier Staff Pilot Khalifa Butti Thani Alshamsi is in charge of the 19-person delegation, according to a statement released Monday evening by Col. Jorry Baclor, head of the AFP Public Affairs Office.

In his interaction with Alhamsi and the delegation, Centino stated, “It is crucial to understand that there are better things seen from the outside. The AFP commander also underlined the value of dynamic information exchanges to get new insights and forge positive relationships with the nation’s partners and friends.

“He also promoted the pursuit of a stronger defense and security partnership between the two nations. The delegates were also exhorted by the CSAFP (Chief of Staff AFP) to enjoy their week-long trip in the Philippines “added Baclor.

The NDC UAE’s goal of exchanging viewpoints on strategies and policies was echoed by Alshamsi, who also thanked Centino for receiving their team.

The delegates received an overview of the AFP organization’s mission and functions as well as the AFP Transformation Roadmap, our 15-year plan to build a world-class military, according to Baclor.
