The fuel surcharge will be reduced from Level 7 to Level 6 starting on April 1 and lasting until April 30, according to the Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB).

For international flights, the fuel fee under Level 6 may range from PHP610 to PHP4,538, and for local flights, it may range from PHP185 to PHP665.

Airlines intending to impose or collect fuel surcharges must submit their applications to his office on or before the effectivity period, according to a March 15 warning from CAB Director Carmelo Arcilla.

USD 1 is equivalently converted to PHP 55.02.

When contacted for a response, Philippine Airlines (PAL) spokesperson Cielo Villaluna stated that the company will adhere strictly to the CAB’s fuel price matrix and that this will apply to tickets purchased in April.

On the other hand, AirAsia Philippines stated that it views the reduction in the fuel surcharge as a positive move for its customers.

In a statement on Thursday, it claimed that the move “comes at a good time as demand for Holy Week and summer travels build-up, which would encourage more people to visit the different tourist attractions in the Philippines and overseas.

The airline went on to say that any kind of ticket price decrease will encourage people to travel as well as boost the economies of the places they fly to.
