The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) issued a fresh warning to the public on Friday against anybody impersonating CAAP employees or authorities and soliciting business.

The CAAP declared in a statement that its representatives “have never and will never solicit goods and/or money from any private person or company.”

In the past three months, there have been “several” reports of fraudulent solicitation, according to spokeswoman Eric Apolonio.

“These alleged solicitation attempts came from our area managers. Only recently, a supplier received a text message solicitation instructing them to deposit money in the bank under a different person’s name, purportedly for the Director General’s account “To the Philippine News Agency, he spoke.

According to CAAP, dishonest people were providing fraudulent bank information to solicit money using the name of CAAP Director General Manuel Antonio Tamayo.

The Authority exhorts the general public to report any fraudulent activity to the CAAP and to be on guard.

It further said that all discussions must go through CAAP’s proper channels.

The CAAP issued a similar public alert against deceptive solicitations in November 2022.

Apolonio said that two contractors at the time stated they were approached for monetary donations.
