The Marcos administration emphasizes infrastructure for economic growth.

The Marcos Jr. administration’s strategy for infrastructure development was revealed to the American Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (AmCham) through the recently authorized list of infrastructure flagship projects by the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Board (IFPs).

Infrastructure development is essential to the Marcos Jr. administration’s growth strategy. We intend to maintain infrastructure expenditure over 5% of [gross domestic product] annually from this year until 2028,” Diokno stated on March 17 at the AmCham General Membership Luncheon Meeting held at the Dusit Thani Hotel Makati.

High-impact IFPs totaling PHP9 trillion are now being implemented in the Philippines with the goal of enhancing physical and digital connectivity, water resources, health, power, and agricultural infrastructure.

As a result of these high-impact projects, “we anticipate seeing a surge of quality and resilient jobs over the next few years,” Diokno said.

Diokno stated that the administration is dedicated to pursuing the path of fiscal consolidation through the Medium-Term Budget Framework in order to satisfy the country’s spending demands (MTFF).

Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) will also be crucial in assisting the nation to maintain high levels of spending without placing undue strain on its financial resources.

The Maharlika Investment Fund (MIF), a vehicle for wise and successful investments in vital industries, is another way the government intends to protect coming generations.

The close to 200 infrastructure flagship projects that the NEDA Board recently approved may be implemented more quickly thanks to the Fund, according to Diokno.

AmCham is a private, autonomous, non-profit organization established in Manila in 1902 that enables American and Filipino firms to interact, advance their long-term goals, and support the societal and economic advancement of the Philippines.

It has created chapters in North Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao and maintains tight ties with chambers of business around the globe, notably the Philippine Chamber of Commerce & Industry.
