The SoCot DAR Farm Business School trains farmers to become agripreneurs.

The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) wants to empower farmers to become “agripreneurs” through the development of a farm business school (FBS) in Polomolok, South Cotabato.

The DAR stated in a statement on Monday that the FBS will give farmers an understanding of sustainable farming.

Beneficiaries of agrarian reform (ARBs) and other farmers taking part in the FBS program will receive interventions to help them innovate, develop, and make their products more appealing to consumers so they may become successful farmer-entrepreneurs.

The program execution, according to Charish Paa, the DAR-South Cotabato Provincial Agricultural Reform Program Officer, would last 16 weeks and include 25 hands-on sessions.

“Sapagkat halos nasa pintuan na lamang nila ang learning facility, ang mga ARB na dadalo sa FBS ay napakaswerte. The ARBs attending the FBS are fortunate in that the learning center is close by; otherwise, they wouldn’t have the opportunity to attend the classes that are being offered as part of the program. They are no longer required to attend school to acquire the priceless teachings they will encounter in the program),” she stated.

Vice-chairwoman of the Dolefil Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Cooperative (DARBC), Maria Antonia Banting, expressed gratitude to DAR for the opportunity.

Banting also expressed the cooperative’s commitment to the scheme and promised their full participation.

“With this program, our farmers will undoubtedly increase their farm production and income,” she stated.

Conrado Estrella III, the secretary for agrarian reform, stated that the FBS, which instructs ARBs on how to enhance farm output and marketing strategy, is in line with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s instruction to help improve the farmers’ standard of living.
